Noted American Ophthalmologist Recommends Using Avenova For Contact Lens Intolerance

10.01.2017

Famed ophthalmologist Eric D. Donnenfeld recently published an article that's causing quite a stir in the contact lens community. Dr. Donnenfeld's article details both how serious contact lens intolerance is nowadays and one effective treatment measure.

Donnenfeld opens his letter telling readers that up to fifteen percent of people who try contact lenses have to give them up after a short period of time. Why is this? Well, in Dr. Donnenfeld's opinion, contacts work to aggravate the eyes' films. This causes numerous dry eye symptoms, including redness, itchiness, and stinging.

Most people become intolerant to contact lenses because they develop dry eye from using them. Dr. Donnenfeld explains that dry eye results from the fact that there are not enough tears produced on the eyes' films. This problem could be made even worse by the presence of bacteria, which causes further damage to the eyes' tissues.

More serious than dry eye, Dr. Donnenfeld points out that people using contact lenses are more susceptible to dangerous eye infections. He cites a study done by the Centers for Disease Control showing 20 percent of diseases that travel through contact lenses can lead to serious eye problems.

Thankfully, Dr. Donnenfeld offers a simple solution to help contact lens users. Dr. Donnenfeld recommends people struggling with contact lens intolerance pick up a bottle of the eyelid cleanser Avenova.

Donnenfeld says he has had great experience treating his patients with the Avenova formula. He believes Avenova works so well due to the hypochlorous acid that is present in the formula. This hypochlorous acid is able to effectively kill off all mites and bacteria present in a person's eyes. This formula has also been proven to stop bacterial enzymes from taking away the moisture from the eyes' tear films.

Donnenfeld recommends using Avenova twice daily in each eye. He believes that Avenova is a "breakthrough" for those suffering from contact lens intolerance.

These suggestions certainly do not fall on deaf ears in the contact lens community. There is no more highly esteemed ophthalmologist on America's East Coast than Dr. Donnenfeld. In fact, Becker's ASC Review actually recognized Dr. Donnenfeld as one of the best ophthalmologists in all of America.

Donnenfeld currently serves as both the president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and a clinical professor of ophthalmology at NYU. Although he has a hectic schedule, Dr. Donnenfeld still meets with patients in both New York and Connecticut. Dr. Donnenfeld was educated at Dartmouth College, where he graduated magna cum laude, and then trained at the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital.

There were a few other therapies for dry eye and contact intolerance Dr. Donnenfeld mentioned in this article, but they were not as highly praised by him as Avenova. Some of these other therapies included an inner eyelid heating device called LipiFlow and an eyelid-cleaning device called BlephEx.

Avenova is made by NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated. NovaBay was founded in 2000 by Ron Najafi and is headquartered in Emeryville, California. It is currently a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol NBY.
